On February 28th, the US and Israel engaged in a joint attack on Iran with the farcically named “Operation Epic Fury”. This has triggered a full-blown regional war, extending to the Gulf States and sending shockwaves through the international economic order. Historians will determine exactitude, but this could very possibly become the worst air war ever conducted. Sections of Tehran already look like Gaza as a new air genocide commences, with the murder of over 150 Iranian schoolgirls in the opening salvos of the bombing a sign of things to come.

Zionism, the most reactionary, bellicose, and irrational section of Western Imperialism, has been supercharged in its mission for total regional hegemony. For over two years, it has committed a genocide in Gaza before the whole world, killing untold thousands of women, children, and men, torturing and raping innocents, brutalizing and ethnically cleansing millions, and subjecting them to slow death, disease, and starvation. The US and Israel have reared their hideous hydra head and subjected the Middle East to a hurricane of death and destruction. Fueled by a race war ideology of Jewish supremacism and a messianic vision of Greater Israel, Zionism has set its sights on its most capable regional rival, Iran, hoping to fracture its polity and destroy its capacity to function as a sovereign entity, subjecting it to the fate of Libya. The US stands as the great hegemonic power of the world, yet it follows its rabies-infected dog into the fray, sick and infected itself from the bite of its creature.

The majority of the US population does not want this war. Only the hardline MAGA fringe, dedicated to their master with a Führerprinzip-like fervor, and the most dedicated Zionist stooges, are rallying in support of this military adventurism. If the US further escalates and commits to a ground invasion, we will only see intensified destruction, death, and total civilizational collapse in Iran. Contradictions within the heart of the empire will also intensify, creating the need for clear political direction for a growing anti-war movement and a public dissatisfied with the economic difficulties produced by the erupting global crisis.

As communists, we stand with the oppressed and exploited the world over. This entails that we stand with the people of Iran in their defense against Zionist aggression, and urge that no privilege be conferred to hurt their ability to fight back, no capitalist interest spared for the sake of profit. Iran is currently waging a just war containing aspects of a progressive national liberation struggle against the combined forces of Zio-American imperialism, necessitating revolutionary defencism. The Iranian proletariat must fight back tooth and claw to ward off the Libyanization of its nation. In the heart of Empire, the belly of the beast, we call for nothing less than revolutionary defeatism, for the defeat of the imperialist ruling classes of the US and Israel and the removal of their presence in the Middle East.
